or why the heck would you walk 14 miles without a gun to your head
Well I was thinking while I was sitting at the doctors office. Yes I was thinking. One of the things I was thinking was, why is it that no matter how early you are for your appointment you have to wait? It seems to me that doctors don’t place any value on our time, just theirs, or maybe they have too many customers and figure to heck with customer service.
Not my point though.
I was thinking that I have been on a quest, a pilgrimage of sorts to a better life for what I think is the last quarter. I hope a long quarter with some quality overtime but none the less the last quarter. I want this time to be as high quality as I can make it, without killing myself to get there. I always thought that I had taken pretty good care of myself, eating many natural and nutritional foods like milkshakes, they contain dairy, grain(granulated sugar) and fiber(well I think) and fires, vegitables and grease to keep things sliding along. Mmmmm and Arbie’s Roast Beef. How much more wholesome than that? And how about,”2 all beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions on a sesame seed bun” and I can have it my way, fast hot and change from my dollar! No seriously, I did eat fairly well, but nothing like I do now, I got my exercise, I worked way too many hours and was always tired, that must be a good sign, right? I almost never got anything done for me but the rest of the world ran a little more smoothly.
Well then came my event and some pretty interesting interactions with some doctors that in my opinion should have stayed in the career they were in before med-school, waiting tables and retail sales, they should not have downgraded the medical field by entering it. Please don’t misunderstand me here, I have run across some pretty good Docs worth their weight in gold and I can’t ever thank them enough for the near miracles they have performed but recently I have had a rash of what I would call Crappy doctors. I know in the medical field there are good and bad, just as in any profession. Ever take your car to a garage and have the same problem after you pay them and start home? Well that’s bad enough. How about going to a doctor and being worse after you leave? 7 additional medications. That is really bad. It happened to me and I was forced into making a decision that I have thus far been very happy with. I have had to learn all about my conditions, medications, and treatments from such wonderful websites as Mayo Clinic, Cleveland Clinic, Johns-Hopkins, and a few others. I became my own doctor so to speak, I will not go to a doctor again without having all the information first unless it is an emergency. I can talk with a doc and have been asked why I know so much about my problem. It seems the good ones have little time to keep up and the bad ones don’t seem to care. Sometimes I have had the opportunity to point out some new or cutting edge treatments too. It’s a lot of work, but at what point do I say I am not worth the effort?
I have adopted this same view of my working life, working hard to develop me, to improve me, to become the best I can at my new business.
I have especially applied this to my spiritual life in seeking after God through Jesus the Christ. I grow closer every day and am loving Him.
In my personal life I am gaining new friendships, and I know you are one. I find that we all need relationships, it is part of a healthy life. It is a major part of my recovery.
Here is my video Part one, I hope you enjoy it, leave me a comment so I know you were here and what you think, good, bad or indifferent.
